J-Leone

"A philosophical world of photo-montage"

All Artworks including mixed media are hand cut from hundreds of old journals and magazines, NO computers are used or harmed during the process.

I often include classical images to form part of my new narrative.

As an artist, my interests are in Surrealism, symbolism,

pop art and social commentary, my connection to art is more in line to the Dada movement.

An appropriate description of my work might be Social Surrealism.

Creating my artwork involves a personal process of exploration and expression of my feelings and ideas about the world and humanity. Once a piece is completed, I feel my work is best left described by others.

It is not so much about my intent anymore, but more importantly how it effects the observer, and with that in mind…

'When selecting work for the Essex Open Jay Leone's work stood out for the freshness of his imagery - more symbolist than surreal.

The work has an anarchic energy in stark contrast to the commercial safety of the art Establishment.'

John Doubleday,  Painter-Sculptor.
